Grant Writer - Temporary
Job Description

 

The Fort Edmonton Foundation seeks an excellent writer and communicator to support fundraising efforts
for the office of the Executive Director, and Capital Campaign Cabinet. The Foundation Relationship
Development team works to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with
the corporate and foundation sectors. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Grant Writer is
responsible for developing proposals, letters of inquiry, reports and other materials with the goal of
securing and stewarding corporate and foundation philanthropic support.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts research, writes and reviews drafts of proposals, including project narratives, budget,
    and other supporting documentation, in a timely manner to meet grant application deadlines

  • Collaborates with Foundation team members and volunteers to create a compelling case for
    support.

  • Conducts interviews as necessary to gather information and data

  • Drafts, prepares, writes and submits grant proposals, requests and letters of inquiry to
    foundations and corporations

  • Maintains a schedule for all team grant writing/proposal and report(s) deadlines

  • Complies with all grant requests and reporting by foundations and corporations

  • Helps to compile progress reports to existing funders

  • Writes online stories about gifts from donors

  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; Post graduate degree is desirable

 

  • 1-5 years of experience working in non-profit organizations to write and secure foundation grants
    or developing funding proposals or related experience is preferred

 

  • Has an understanding of foundation and corporate grant guidelines

 

  • Possesses extraordinary attention to detail

 

  • Is highly motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented and resourceful

 

  • Ability to conduct interviews with senior administrators, key donors.

 

  • Ability to articulate the Fort Edmonton Foundation’s value proposition to key stakeholders with
    passion and energy

 

  • Familiarity with philanthropic foundations is considered an asset

This position is a contract position offered at an hourly rate of $20/hour with an estimated 20 hours per
week. Work will be paid by billable hours as per summary of work completed on monthly invoices
provided at the end of each month.
