Partners Gate

In the years leading up to 1998, visitors comments often included a complaint that the entrance to the Park from the main parking lot was confusing. After much conversation, the Foundation decided to construct a marker that would both point the way back in time and allow the Foundation to recognize those that have helped make the Park grow. And thus was born the Partners Gate.
Daryl Procinsky Architecture Ltd., after an architectural competition, designed the Partners Gate-"the metamorphosis between [York] Boat and Building Construction." (1) They envisioned that the Park visitor "is invited to walk in, through, around, and along a York Boat under construction." (2) It was their intent to create a structure that would be "a year-round, dramatic visual [structure] while providing historic reference to the significance of our City's Founding." (3)
The Foundation was proud to open this insightful and beautiful structure in the fall of 1999. It is located at the junction between the main parking lot and the path to the entrance at the Train Station.
