Fund-Raising
Many of Fort Edmonton Park's guests do not know that it is donated community dollars building the Park-not City tax dollars. The Foundation's function is to collect and utilize these donations from Edmontonians for the completion of the Park. Moreover, our donors have control over what the Foundation's Board of Directors does with their money.
As the Foundation is an independent charitable organization, however, up to 10% of each donation is used for administrative costs. If, at the end of the year, not all of the administrative levy is used, the remainder goes back into project reconstruction rather than being carried over into the next year's administrative funds.
The Foundation fund raises through a variety of methods:
- "The Foundation" - a biannual magazine that Fort Edmonton Park sends to its pass-holders and the Foundation sends to our donors.
- Spring and Fall Mail-Outs - we send out a spring and fall letter to our donors to let them know how their money is hard at work in Fort Edmonton Park.
- This Web Site- individuals can make donations to the Foundation by clicking here.
The Foundation also puts on fundraising events that combine fun, food and awareness all for the good of Fort Edmonton Park: Dinner Auction.
The Foundation also has three exciting sponsorship opportunities:
- Preserve your Family History in the Hotel Selkirk
- Adopt a Painted Pony on the 1920s Carousel
- Donor Bench Program
Foundation staff also submit grant proposals to a variety of sources on an ongoing basis.
We are also partnered with the Park in their annual pass program: Partners in History
Since 1969, the Foundation's fund raising efforts have generated over $20 million for the creation and growth of Fort Edmonton Park.
