Current & Future Projects
Approximately 30 projects are needed to complete Fort Edmonton Park. Currently, the Foundation is working on the following projects:
1920s Midway & Exhibition Phase II:
The construction of the Exhibits Building has completed the development of the 1920s Midway and Exhibition project.
To be open to the public for the 2008 Park Season, the Exhibits Building is home to the carvers and painters responsible for the creation of
the Fort Edmonton carousel. The building features a carving workshop, an all-purpose event room, public washrooms, and a 1920s style candy shop.
Biplane Hangar:
The McNeill Hangar, located adjacent to the Blatchford Field Air Hangar on 1920 Street is now home to the Avro Avian biplane replica, a reproduction of Wop May’s famous plane.
Phase I of development of the 1920 Street Commercial Block is now underway. This first phase of the project is comprised of the construction of the Hotel Selkirk Parking Lot and Historical Billboard Display. Subsequent phases of the project will bring the development of re-creations of 1920s downtown Edmonton businesses, including LaFleche Brothers, the Mite Block, Campbell’s Furniture, Diller’s Book Shop, the Capitol Barber Shop, and the Capitol Theatre.
