The second stander on the inner row is a Lauren Baker creation. As with most of the other horses in its ring, it measures 36 inches, chest to rump. Lauren has designed a classic inner-row PTC stander - simple but eye-catching.
Dave Antoniuk, award winning Edmontonian carver who happens, also, to be a member of SEESA, has undertaken the carving of Flame. A retired NAIT instructor, Dave carves almost every day, resulting in a horse that has been completed in record time.
Pictures of our historic machine taken in 1919 also indicate that by that year all the horses were dappled. At first this confused us as there is no doubt that each horse had been painted differently when the carousel left the PTC just two years earlier. It would seem that after two years of hard riding, as well as the beating that the horses took from being transported from town to town every week, they had been given a layer of generic "park paint" to rehabilitate them.
