AGT St. Paul Exchange

The summer of 1995 saw the Foundation officially open the replica of the 1929 Alberta Government Telephones' St. Paul exchange on 1920 Street. This particular exchange is typical of the exchanges that were built across Alberta. Its "quaint, cottage-like exterior, commonly of a clinker brick bungalow design, symbolize[s] the Silent Partner theme of the company both as a companion and as an enterprise of the people of Alberta." (1) At the back of the exchange is "a generic industrial-style building…which houses a collection of AGT artifacts." (2) This building has proven to be most educational and entertaining for school children.
